Erykah Badu has joined forces with Cookies founder Berner to introduce her own strain: "That Badu." The music icon and entrepreneur describes this Limoncello crossbred from Mad Cow Genetics as an aromatic lemon fragrance that "just gets you through your day without feeling over-exposed".
Cookie storefronts will host a launch event for this collaboration on International Women's Day - March 8 - featuring Badu's set of products including ceramic rolling trays and bongs with blue-and-white designs inspired by ancient Qinghua ceramics.

Erykah badu, the Grammy Award winning Neo Soul icon, is venturing into cannabis. Recently, she collaborated with entrepreneur Berner in order to introduce "The Badu," a strain and tea set named for her. Badu boasts its lemony flavour "reminds (her) of a Ballad." Mad Cow Genetics produces this variety that offers subtle lemon zest notes and citrus notes.

This Badu Technology is Tea
Cookies' first non-psychoactive herbal mushroom tea was developed in partnership by Erykah Badu. This tea is made from vanilla and bergamot flavored black tea leaves, decaffeinated to maximize enjoyment. It also contains 10mg CBD/5mgCBG for stress reduction and relaxation.
Badu's aim for this collaboration is to empower and support women. Her song, "On & On," along with her desire to empower women in her fans inspired the name and terpenes profile of this variety. Ideal for morning rituals or helping focus throughout the day.
Badu is a well-known advocate of cannabis. She even has a brand named after her. She's also been a supporter of many cannabis-related issues, including doula service and working to obtain her medical marijuana licence in Texas.
She mentioned the advantages of That Badu in her YouTube video promoting it for women and mothers specifically, suggesting it as an ideal strain to help improve mood and focus. She described its effect as uplifting but not heavy or sedated; adding that It makes for ideal nightly meditations or vision quests.
Cookies developed this strain in partnership with Lemonchello 28, and its parentage is an indica crossbreed with Jet Fuel Gelato. This hybrid strain has uplifting effects as a result of the crossbreeding. Erykah is a long-time advocate of women's equality. She's teaming up with Cookies Cannabis to launch That Badu as part of Women's History Month. The premium range is designed with women's needs in mind, and will debut on International Women's Day (March 8). A second wave will be released around Mother's Day, 14 May.
Badu realized her vision for the brand at every stage - research, testing, packaging design. A purple-and-white motif reminiscent of ancient Chinese Qinghua ceramics can be seen throughout all products, such as her porcelain tray for rolling joints and Roberto Lugo's vase-shaped bong which she affectionately named "Woman Vessel." Together they worked closely together on creating something which celebrates both beauty and ritual associated with cannabis use.
As part of their partnership, Badu will release their inaugural cannabis cultivar: a cross between Lemonchello and Jet Fuel Gelato that can be found for purchase as eighths and pre-rolls at all Cookies and Lemonnade locations across California beginning March 8th.
