AMA (American Motorcycle Association, jenkkien kattojärjestö) päästi joskus 60-luvullla (?) sammakkotiedotteeen jossa kerrottiin, että 99% motoristeista on tavallisia lainkuuliaisia kunnollisia kansalaisia. Tämän seurauksena monet kerhot liimasivat 1% -merkin liiveihinsä.

Santun mainitsema tiedotehan liittyy Hollisterin moottoripyöräkilpailujen yhteydessä tapahtuneisiin "järjestyshäiriöihin" joista sen aikaisen iltapäivälehdet revittivät hurjia otsikoita ja suuri yleisö veti johtopäätöksen että kaikki motoristit ovat täysiä elukoita. "Kunnon motoristit" sitten äkkiä oman nahkansa pelastaakseen laskivat liikeelle em. tiedotteen tästä 99/1% suhteesta jonka ns. outlaw-kerhot sitten omivat itselleen.

Kuuluisin ympäri maailman lehdissä levinnyt Hollister-kuva, jossa kaamea prätkähirmu nojailee pyöräänsä 'tuiterissa' ja röyhkeä ilme naamalla, paljastui myöhemmin jonkin asteiseksi lavasteeksi, kun vaihtoehtoiset otokset samasta tilanteesta ilmaantuivat esiin (ilmettä haetaan ja kaljapulloja sommitellaan). No, joka tapauksessa tositapahtumien ja sepitelmien summana mualima muuttui jonnin verran.
